The Best of #LCMemories

It’s that time of year again folks. The sun is shining, birds are singing and the stress levels of 6th years nationwide has sky rocketed. That’s right, it’s Leaving Certificate time.

The Dreaded Exam Hall of Doom

While the poor unfortunate Leaving Cert students are locked away trying to get that last bit of information into their heads before tomorrow, or are “studying” in the sun (Yes, we know you’re only out there to sun bathe and nap, that poetry book is fooling nobody), past LC students were getting all nostalgic on Twitter using the #LCMemories tag. Here are some of the best so far…

Ah yes, let’s not forget the national scandal that was Eavan Boland not turning up in the poetry section in 2010. English teachers around the country claimed she was a sure thing, but it has left ex-students still having nightmares… *shudders*

The Irish essay section. Where you the question could have been about anything from the Recession to the All-Ireland Final, but you wrote about the only sample answer you learned off, even if it was about volunteering in Africa.

This was obviously more productive than studying. What was more calming than knowing your mates were just as screwed?! There was always those secret studiers though…

aka – Eau de Leaving Certificate

You probably got bonus marks if you didn’t go to Kerry or Disneyland Paris.

There was always one. That one student who was handed the wrong paper and probably needed signing in to the local mental institution because of it.

Because the parents couldn’t possibly kick your head in for dropping to pass and it being too late to go back… right?!

The classic case of Post-Leaving Cert Trauma causing repressed memories.

The post-Leaving Cert session. The night you’ll never forget but never fully remember.

Check out #LCMemories on Twitter for many more nostalgic gems from past students.

And if you’re a Leaving Cert student reading this about to sit the exams, just relax and do your best. It might not seem like it, but it’s not all that bad. Good luck. 🙂
